Gear up for Malaysia’s most exciting sporting event, the
super-charged, adrenaline-packed, F1
2013 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix due set the Sepang International Circuit on
fire from the 22nd to 24th of March 2013. The F1 Malaysia
Grand Prix 2013, this year, gets the second round of the season’s twenty-leg
FIA Formula One World Championship on the road.
The
Malaysian chapter of the formula 1 circuit dates back to 1999, when the event
was first held on the 5.543 kilometer long, Hermann Tilke designed track, in
Sepang, Selangor located within close proximity to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The Sepang track is quite convenient to get to
as it is situated at a distance of 85 km from the Kuala Lumpur city center and
is easily accessed via 45 minute drive. The Sepang International circuit which
features 15 turns and 8 straights with access speeds of more than 300km/h
is averred to be especially challenging, for Malaysia’s hot and humid weather
conditions often render it quite difficult to navigate.
Malaysia’s unpredictable tropical climate has actually been
known to cause various impediments to the successful staging of this F1 race
down the ages. For instance, during the 2001 race, a torrential tropical rainstorm
during lap 3 almost rendered the event a wash-out while in 2009; the heavens
burst open to cause disruptions to a race that eventually saw Great Britain’s
Jenson Button triumph. In 2012, the tropical monsoon once again showed up to
ruin the party and everyone associated with the event this year, is hoping that
the sun will shine brightly on race day so
that the storm clouds stay away.
The Malaysian Grand Prix, in 2013 is
celebrating its 15th anniversary, and the event organizers along
with sponsors Petronas, have set up an action-packed schedule for the millions
of fans who will be arriving in Sepang for this high-speed battle of wills and
skills. The race itself will feature eleven teams and twenty-two drivers
including stars like Sebastian Vettel, winner here in 2010 and 2011 who is in
pursuit of this third Malaysian crown, and Brazilian driver Fernando Alonso who
triumphed here last year. Another star attraction of the event will be the Red
Bull Racing Team, which will no doubt put up a spirited defense of its
Constructors’ title
In addition to all this exhilarating
sporting action, the organizers of the race are also enticing race-goers with
the offering of a special 'One Ticket Unlimited' (1TU) package which will open
up a world of dining, entertainment and shopping privileges to them. This
special ITU package will afford all grandstand ticket holders free entry to the
after- race music concert to be held at SIC’s Helipad Area, which will feature
the superstars of rock music the legendary 90s rock band Guns N’ Roses, famous
for classic rock anthems like November Rain, Sweet Child of Mine and Welcome to
the Jungle, amongst many more.
Additional advantages of the ITU package
include exciting discounts at numerous retail outlets for the month long F1Malaysia
GP Sale 2013 and deals for transportation and food and beverages for the actual
race day and after. Other advantages of
the package include rebates for the purchase of official merchandise produced
to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Malaysia Grand Prix.
If you have a passion for high speed and heart-stopping
action, the F1 2013
Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix, is an event you really can’t afford to skip.
